Volunteering is a crucial part of the centre’s operation and it is our volunteers that help us achieve the service we provide today. We are always on the look-out for new volunteers and would love to have you join us. No matter how little time you may have your support will help maintain the service and future success of our operation.

The centre also offers work and volunteer placements for young people, individuals with learning disabilities, work experience placements to pupils from local secondary schools and candidates requiring short term work placements.

The Carrick Sensory group meets every first Sunday of the month (12pm to 5pm) and welcomes around 6 families for a children's play session to encourage play and development. The group is open to families with children needing additional support needs and their siblings. Children attending the play session can vary from early years to primary 6.

The group also runs every Monday morning (9am to 1:30pm) excluding school holidays. This part of our operation allows all ages within the community to share/maintain their skills and talents and make a valuable and rewarding contribution to the community. After at least 6 months volunteering with the Carrick centre, we can provide volunteers with references for their personal statements required for further education.

Adult volunteers require a PVG to work with young children and 2 references. PVG costs can be covered by the Carrick Centre. Younger volunteers can be exempt of PVG but need 2 references, one of which can be issued by the school.
Experience required: Young people following the Saltire Awards or the Duke of Edinburgh award can apply. The Carrick Centre supports all volunteers and has a no barrier approach to volunteering. All capabilities welcome, the only requirement would be the willingness to participate and support the community.
