At Sporting Memories clubs, older adults come together to talk about and remember all things sport. The core of our work delivers reminiscence, social and inclusive physical activities that improve the mental and physical well-being of isolated older people (50+) living with dementia, depression, and other long-term conditions.
We do this through tapping into people’s passion, knowledge and love of sport. Weekly club sessions are run & facilitated by volunteers who are supported by club coordinators. Full training is given & weekly resource packs provided to support each club meeting.
Sporting Memories is a charitable organisation that works towards reducing loneliness and isolation in people over 50 years old - particularly those with Dementia and other memory related conditions. We hold weekly groups within the community to reminisce about sport and take part in light physical activity such as Bocca and New Age Curling. The groups help to improve people's wellbeing and physical ability and also help to connect people with their community. Groups currently run in Dunbar, Longniddry, Tranent and Musselburgh.
