Description

The Floating Stage is a brand new initiative to provide a unique entertainment venue on the Scottish Lowland Canal network from Edinburgh to Glasgow,(and all points in between) The Floating Stage will be predominantly run by volunteers, for the benefit of local communities, social enterprise and 3rd sector organisations, as well as up and coming and established performers of all genres of entertainment . Full details of Our Vision and Proposals are detailed on our web site ~ www.thefloatingstage.co.uk. and the concept document therein. We are currently forming a management team to oversee the many aspects required to set up, organise, and operate this innovative concept, and are now looking for a treasurer (or someone with a financial background) to lead and advise the management team on all financial matters as we apply for and obtain charitable status, (SCIO or similar), and all financial aspects of the project going forward.

As the project becomes established, it is envisaged there will be considerable liaison with the fundraising team, membership secretary, marketing team & procurement teams among others.

Organisation aims and objectives

The Floating Stage is a unique entertainment venue, created and operated by volunteers, capable of being re-positioned to various locations along the banks of a canal to be made available to both budding entertainers and professionals alike to put on shows for local communities. The Floating Stage concept is designed to help a wide ranging multi faceted list of organisations, communities and individuals.

Frequency and commitment details

As required to successfully carry out the Treasurer's role, but also to suit the successful candidate. Strong enthusiasm is required to drive this project to becoming a successful programme

Restrictions

Experience required: While there is no need for experience in Canal Activity, Entertainment Industry, or Event Management, a previous involvement in any of these may be useful. The position will however suit someone with previous charity (SCIO) experience, who can maintain and produce auditable financial records towards a successful launch and beyond. Previous involvement in major fundraising (grants, sponsorship etc.) would be a distinct advantage to the project.
Travel details: This is undefined at present, but it is envisaged that due to the wide operating area, much of the "committee / board" work will be on-line, (Zoom / Teams etc.) There may however be an occasional need for visitations and presentations to third party organisations, such as potential sponsors, grant & funding sources, etc.
Minimum age: 21

Expenses details: It is envisaged that once the project is in funds (seed funding) then all reasonable out of pocket expenses will be reimbursed.
Training details: Induction training will take the form of intensive introduction to the project concepts, the objectives of the programme, and informal meetings with many of the influential supporters of the initiative.
