Young Carers Befriender (WEST FIFE)

  • VO92758

Description

Offering 1:1 befriending support to young carers (aged 12-18) who feel isolated, lonely or disconnected. Making a valuable difference to someone's life by undertaking a social role and offering them some 'me' time away from their caring role and enabling them to access more opportunities within their community. You can do this by chatting with someone on the phone, going out for coffee, taking a walk together, finding a hobby or joining a local group. Befrienders help people build their confidence, connect more with their communities and meet new people.

Organisation aims and objectives

In Fife, learners can chose what they want to learn and are supported by volunteers, one-to-one or in small groups. Lead Scotland also run a Fife-wide, time limited befriending project for anyone over 16 who is facing social isolation or loneliness. People are supported on a one-to-one basis by local volunteers.
