  • Opportunity end date: 6th February 2023

Description

What’s involved
•This role is currently paused due to the pandemic as the Centre is closed, however we are looking to build up our list of volunteer drivers in anticipation of restarting our activities.
•Sight loss can leave people isolated and public transport is often a barrier for people with sight loss. We aim to overcome this by providing people with sight loss with transport that allows them to access our many activities. The principal task is to collect blind and partially sighted Centre users from their homes and assist them to get into the Centre. This may involve guiding people with a visual impairment and full training will be given for this. Centre users are coming in to access one of the groups or activities that we offer, as a volunteer driver you can stay for the group or come back after a couple of hours for the return journey. Occasionally groups go out for afternoon tea or to visit local visitor attractions.
