Description

Volunteers wanted for Polwarth Pop Up Café. The role includes welcoming customers, serving pre-made food, hot drinks, clearing tables, taking payments, help to tidy away and return hall ready for other users. We are open Tues mornings with volunteers forming small teams rotating every week. Our aim is to meet members of the community, creating a safe space to come to on your own or with friends. Mindfull of isolation and loneliness, we will offer sensitivity, a listening ear and good hospitality.

Restrictions

Experience required: Essential - good time keeping, reliable, can work as part of a team, ability to adapt to different duties and help other volunteers if required. Interpersonal skills - someone who is friendly and approachable and enjoys working with people. Desirable - confident when handling cash.
Travel details: Polwarth Parish Church, 36-38 Polwarth Terrace, Edinburgh, EH11 1 LU. Buses number 10 and 27 stop outside the church. On street parking which you must pay for.

Expenses details: The claims form would be completed and emailed to our Treasurer.
Taster available: Yes
Training details: Induction training will include an overview of the building and a conversation with our Health and Safety Officer. There will be a check list of duties and verbal and written food handling guidance. Ongoing training will involve working with the wellbeing director looking at community development aspects of the Pop Up Cafe. For those who are interested an opportunity to gain REHIS Elementary Food Hygiene Certificate.
