Are you a young person (12-25) with existing experience of volunteering? Do you live in South Ayrshire?

Then you might be interested in becoming a Saltire Ambassador!

Our recently formed 'Saltire Squad' are looking for new members to help us 'fly the flag' about volunteering across South Ayrshire. If you are passionate about the benefits and impact of volunteering, then this is the ideal opportunity for you.

You will be a member of a growing group of Saltire Ambassadors who are promoting volunteering and the Saltire Awards in their local communities. This opportunity is flexible to your schedule and your talents - ideal for those in school, college or university. If you sign-up, you will have the opportunity to:

• Plan and attend events across South Ayrshire to promote youth volunteering.
• Create engaging social media content and videos to raise awareness about volunteering and the Saltire Awards.
• Work as part of a team to come up with new and fun ideas for increasing youth volunteering in South Ayrshire.
• Help to plan the Saltire Awards Ceremony - an annual event celebrating the achievements of Saltire Award participants.
• Join a group of young people who are passionate about making a difference in their local community!

All participants will be provided with a mentor for ongoing support as well as access to events, training, and opportunities.

Organisation aims and objectives

Voluntary Action South Ayrshire (VASA) is the local Third Sector Interface. It is recognised by Scottish Government and South Ayrshire Council as fulfilling a key role in ensuring the continued development of a robust Third Sector in South Ayrshire. As VASA has been created from an amalgamation of Volunteer Centre South Ayrshire (VCSA) and Council for Voluntary Organisations in Kyle and Carrick (CVOKC) it is founded on a wealth of experience gained during decades of work with Third Sector organisations, agencies and groups operating in South Ayrshire.

As long as you're over 18, you can help out as an adult volunteer in Scouting. Don’t fancy working directly with young people? We also have roles in governance, administration, planning, social media and much more! Get in touch with your local group and offer your skills/time. 14-24 Team Leader

The 14-24 Team Leader leads a team of volunteers who support the delivery of the Scout programme for young people aged 24-24 years within the District, including volunteers working directly with young people, as well as others performing tasks such as administration. As we transform our volunteering in 2024 to make volunteering even easier, more enjoyable and rewarding, they will work closely with other members of the District Leadership Team to establish a new teams-based approach to volunteering, developing their own team structures and agreeing tasks with their team.

Guide Dogs - Join a community of amazing people and incredible dogs as a Deputy coordinator for one of our fundraising groups

n this role you will be helping and supporting the Group coordinator within our fundraising groups to organise events and secure new opportunities for fundraising by; · Supporting in organising and attending events and collections in your local area, such as Great Guide Dogs Tea Party. Informing your key contact and relevant members of these events. · Supporting in building relationships with local networks, organisations, schools, and social groups to host events or to name their own puppy. · Delegating tasks and responsibilities to other volunteers within your fundraising group in the absence of the Fundraising Group Coordinator. · Supporting in making sure fundraising policies and procedures are followed; including all roles are maintaining their required records. OPPORTUNITY: Volunteer on the Scottish Canals Youth Panel

Young Scot Hive (YSHive) and Scottish Canals are looking for a small group of young people from across Scotland aged 11-26 to join the Scottish Canals Youth Panel that will help the development of long-term sustainable change within the Scottish Canals network and support the development of Young Person’s Active Travel. Project information 🎂 11- 25 (inclusive) years old 📅 This project will run until March 2025. These are the initial dates: Induction Session – Sunday 4th August 2024 Session 2 – Saturday 2nd November 2024 Session 3 – Saturday 22nd February 2025 🗺️ We are looking for participants from these local authorities; Argyll and Bute, Highlands, East Dunbartonshire, West Dunbartonshire, Glasgow, North Lanarkshire, Falkirk, West Lothian, and Edinburgh, however anyone living in Scotland with an interest in this activity can apply. About the Scottish Canals Youth Panel Scottish Canals (link to website) is the national organisation responsible for looking after Scotland’s canals, their work focuses mainly on maintaining and conserving the canals of Scotland to transform them to play a vital role in Scotland today. This project aims to encourage Young People to engage with the sites maintained by Scottish Canals such as the Falkirk Wheel, The Kelpies, and other sites. This partnership also aims to give Young People the chance to become more involved and aware of Scottish Canals environmental and heritage work and to engage with the co-designing and decision-making processes to shape the work of Scottish Canals. What you'll do as part of the Scottish Canals Youth Panel The Scottish Canals Partnership will work with Scottish Canals and the selected panel to establish ways of working, creating the conditions for young people to effectively engage in decision-making processes within Scottish Canals. A dedicated Young Scot staff member will support you throughout your volunteering experience to: - Work as a panel to understand the way Scottish Canals delivers its work and gain an on the-ground knowledge of how young people are engaged, supported and included. - Establish feedback channels for the Young People’s Panel to inform ongoing developments and decision making within Scottish Canals. - Work with Scottish Canals to deliver activity specifically supporting Active Travel
