Being a Collection Can Volunteer is a fantastic opportunity to contribute to the success of a leading health charity and make a real difference to the people we support. As a CHSS Collecting Can Volunteer, you will play a key role in sourcing new collecting can sites, helping to raise awareness and vital funds to ensure Chest Heart and Stroke Scotland continues to support people who are living with effects of stroke, chest and heart conditions in Scotland.

We are Scotland’s health charity supporting people and their families across Scotland with Chest, Heart and Stroke conditions. We want to make sure people living with one of these conditions are living life to the full. We will advocate for better health for everyone and work to make sure there is help and support in every community. The care and support we deliver every day ensures everyone can live the life they want to. Across Scotland, over 1 million people are living with the effects of Chest, Heart and Stroke conditions. We will support people by providing advice, information, and support through our No Life Half Lived strategy across Scotland. These services include our Advice Line, Stroke Nurse Service, Community Support Service, Health Information, Health Defence, Education and E-learning and our Peer Support Groups.
Volunteering as a Collection Can Volunteer is very flexible and can be done in your own time.
Experience required: * Enjoy meeting and talking to new people
* Be happy and confident to place collection cans in new sites
* Have good organisational skills
* Be able to keep accurate records
* Have time to commit to your volunteer role - Collection Can Volunteer
* To want to share your enthusiasm for Chest Heart and Stroke Scotland.
This role will require you to travel locally, and you will carry out your role on your own and so the minimum age for the Collection Can Volunteer Role is 18 years.
Travel details: You will be based from home, but will need you to be able to travel within a local postcode area – you and your volunteer line manager will jointly agree on the area you will cover.

Expenses paid: Yes
Expenses details: Any approved travel expenses are paid monthly via bank transfer. Expenses are from volunteers home to the collecting can venues.
Training details: Excellent support and relevant guidance is provided to all volunteers. You will be fully supported to undertake your role safely and effectively. You will be supported by designated CHSS Fundraising member of staff who will be your main point of contact.
You will also be given a full induction and be expected to undertake core learning, which will include:
Health and safety (COVID-19)
Confidentiality and Safeguarding
Manual handling
Cash handling
As a CHSS volunteer you will be required to undertake a Basic Disclosure Check before commencing your role as a Collection Can Volunteer.
