OVERVIEW
Have you ever wondered what it would be like to help run a community-orientated business with over £750,000 in assets and 600 members?

Volunteers predominately carry out the day-to-day operations of CCU giving them a world of responsibility and a chance to showcase skills to a people-centred role.

PRINCIPLE RESPONSIBILITIES
The role is on the front counters with key responsibilities including:
• Use of basic IT systems (training on our system, Custom, will be provided)
• Cash handling
• Dealing with members face-to-face and via telephone
• Wearing of PPE will be in use
• Answering customer queries and helping members get a positive result
• General administrative duties which include scanning and importing/photocopying

It is not required that the person is living in Clackmannanshire, but it is hoped they have a genuine desire to help its communities and believe in CCU’s mission.

Volunteers need to be available at least one of the following opening times:
• Monday 10am – 12noon
• Wednesday 10am – 12noon
• Friday 1:30pm – 3:30pm

Organisation aims and objectives

The Credit Union operates from former Clackmannanshire Council premises near Alloa town centre. The office is open to members two mornings and one afternoon a week. CCU has 700 members and is managed and staffed by volunteers. There are 6 volunteers which include the 6 directors. The Credit Union is affiliated to the Scottish League of Credit Unions (SLCU) which is a “sponsoring body” authorised by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) and provides model rules, professional guidance, and training. CCU offers affordable loans (unsecured and secured), as well as savings solutions.

Restrictions

This opportunity is for anyone aged 18 or over. Volunteers will be encouraged to become a member of CCU, though this is not a prerequisite to becoming a volunteer.
Experience required: REQUIREMENTS • Basic numeracy skills • Follows instructions • Has self-initiative • Good verbal communication skills • Carry out other duties linked to the role if needed. Desired • Cash handling • Customer service • A working knowledge and understanding of credit unions/third sector • An awareness of common financial challenges • Written communication skills

Training details: The successful applicant joins CCU as a volunteer, so alongside an training in various duties, they will also have an induction to the CCU delivered by the Chair of the Board.
