SupportED is a community eating disorder charity. Our aim is to support adults affected by eating disorders by providing needs led peer support and information to reduce impact and improve quality of life. We provide two volunteer led services; Group Support and Telephone Befriending. We provide emotional support, information signposting and facilitate peer support.

We are looking for Support Group Facilitators for our adult eating disorder and carers support groups (in-person in Stirling and online on Zoom).
We especially encourage people with lived experience to apply.

About the role:
Full training will be provided before starting the role.
The main tasks are: Set-up and take down of the room (for in person group), Zoom admin (for online groups), hosting the zoom meeting, taking a register of attendees, facilitating the group discussion, providing emotional support for attendees, signposting to relevant services, writing a post-group feedback form.

The groups currently run online or In Person in Glasgow and Stirling.

Successful applicants will be invited to an interview on Zoom/ Google Meet.

All volunteer roles are subject to successful references and disclosure through a PVG check. This will be provided free of charge by SupportED.

If you have lived experience please let us know. We must ensure that all volunteers are well enough themselves before they consider supporting others and will discuss with individuals who have lived experience whether it is the right time for them to volunteer.

Organisation aims and objectives

We provide care/support/day opportunities for adults with learning disabilities to live in the community within their own homes. We also organise and involve our clients to take part in as many indoor/outdoor activities providing our client with the support they need to do so while trying to gain independence for our clients.











Experience required: No formal qualifications required. Good listening skills and ability to offer support and encouragement. A good knowledge and understanding of the needs of people with mental health issues, particularly eating disorders would be advantageous. Empathic, non judgemental and inclusive.
Travel details: There is a monthly carers support group in The Albert Halls (Lesser Hall), Henderson's Bistro, Dumbarton Rd, Stirling FK8 2QL.
