Help make a difference to the lives of disabled people in your community!
Equal Futures promotes social inclusion and creates connections for people with a learning disability or Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) and their family carers.

By becoming part of Equal Futures as a Community Event Volunteer, you will attend and assist our regular social events for people we support and their families. This opportunity helps to build the confidence and skills of people we support in social situations, and help them engage with peers in a relaxing and supportive environment.
Volunteers work as part of an events team to plan, schedule and deliver exciting social events with assistance from the Project Coordinators. Events are scheduled in advance and depending on how much time you would like to contribute, volunteers can attend a selection of the dates or all of them.

The events are a great opportunity to get to know the Equal Futures community, and some volunteers even go on to become Befrienders with us or help to facilitate a Circle of Support for someone who needs it.

We provide support for people aged 16 and over and work across 10 local authority areas: Glasgow, Edinburgh, Midlothian, Scottish Borders, Renfrewshire, East Renfrewshire, Perthshire, East Ayrshire, North Ayrshire, South Ayrshire.

We welcome applicants from all sections of the community and will work flexibly with you to ensure your volunteering journey is a positive and satisfying experience.
You’ll enjoy lots of benefits being a Community Event Volunteer, such as:

Learning from an experienced and knowledgeable team
Meeting new people and sharing insights
Volunteering on a flexible basis that fits in with your life
Access to free training and regular support
Social opportunities with other volunteers
Improved self-esteem and confidence
Improved communication skills
Advantageous for relevant careers
Reduced loneliness and better mental health
Feeling valued in our friendly team
Seeing the difference that you’re making

Thank you for showing interest in this opportunity.

Organisation aims and objectives

Equal Futures is an organisation set up by a group of parents with a family member with a learning disability. This gives a unique viewpoint to the range of challenges families face when they want to make sure that their sons and daughters live a good life. Many families feel isolated; unsure where to ask for help. Most people with disabilities will have social care services to provide support for daily living. But there is often a lack of understanding in these services that people want more than this. Everyone wants friends too – this is where Equal Futures can help.
