Description

Full training provided, support young people in your local community or virtually, by providing practical support through shared hobbies, skills and interests.

Role Description :
Offering young people practical support.
Helping the young person access or maintain community activities i.e., health services, shops, parks and community centres.
Interacting with young people through an interest you have in common i.e., music, art, gardening, reading, animals, gaming, coding, sports, cooking etc.
Giving young people support with issues which concern them. Like providing information about organisations that could help them with things like housing, benefits, employment, or education opportunities.

Organisation aims and objectives

One Step Borders supports young people in the Scottish Borders, with their mental health and emotional wellbeing. We do this by: Offering free 1:1 support with the individual. Raising awareness and spreading knowledge about mental health. Supporting families with a young person experiencing difficulties with their mental health and/ or emotional well being.

Frequency and commitment details

As and when required, 1 hour per week.

Restrictions

Experience required: No previous experience or particular skills needed as full training will be provided and we will work with you to match you with a suitable young person on completion of your training. All you need to be is willing to help and be able to dedicate at least one hour per week .
Travel details: Borders wide.
Minimum age: 16

Training details: Training will last around 5 weeks. The training will run weekly with a mix of week day mornings and afternoon sessions. We use a blended training model of online and face to face learning which will equip you with the skills and confidence you need to do the role
