As a Retail Volunteer, you'll be the heart and soul of our store, bringing joy to our customers and helping us create a vibrant shopping experience. We are looking for volunteers to join our Complementary Therapy team and donate their time and professional skills as a therapist to support our hospice patients. This role will make a huge difference to the lives of those requiring end-of-life care. Your role will include some of, but is not restricted to, the following tasks: Provide a rounded approach to patients and their families to ensure the highest quality of care is given Be aware of patients’ diagnosis, treatment and care before giving complementary therapies Able to adapt a therapy, when required Keep to the code of ethics and practice laid down by the governing body of the therapy and to Marie Curie’s policy for complementary therapists Continue your professional development to refine or learn new skills Attend any relevant or training sessions held by the Day Care Unit or Hospice For more information or if you have any questions regarding this volunteer role, please contact the Volunteering Operations Centre at volunteering@mariecurie.org.uk

Why we need your help Coping with bereavement involves painful feelings, coming to terms with loss and making adjustments in life. We are looking for a volunteer counsellor to provide counselling support to relatives, carers and friends of patients who are terminally ill or who have died. We are looking for volunteer qualified counsellors to provide counselling support to individuals impacted by terminal illness. What we need you to do Your role will include some of, but is not restricted to, the following tasks: Provide 2-4 counselling sessions per week for in-patients, day services and community services Identify when the level of support may be beyond the scope of counselling and that other professional help may be needed Identify and agree desired outcomes with the person being counselled and how these will be reviewed / achieved To be supervised by a qualified external supervisor Provide statistical records on a weekly basis to the hospice administration team To follow Marie Curie policies, standards and procedures What skills or experience do you need?
