Join our friendly SCAA team as a Speaker. Attending pre-arranged talks with local groups, Speakers provide insight into our work and highlight emotional patient stories. We seek friendly individuals and no formal experience needed.

Contact the organisation to introduce yourself and confirm closer to the date.
Provide an engaging and informative talk utilising SCAA kit to a local group, answering questions and helping raise awareness of SCAA and its work in the community.
Highlight the various ways to support SCAA through fundraising, volunteering, and social media.
Follow SCAA banking procedure when you receive donations.
Occasionally work with another Volunteer or Staff Member and provide feedback to Community Fundraiser.
This role has both in-person and virtual opportunities.

Organisation aims and objectives

Scotland’s Charity Air Ambulance (SCAA)– saving and improving lives in every corner of Scotland, 365 days a year. Since the service launched in 2013, the charity has responded to over 3,600 time-critical emergencies. As the country’s only charity-funded air ambulance, SCAA relies entirely on public donations to fuel its life-saving flights that bring help and hope to those su¬ffering serious injury or illness. An integral part of Scotland’s frontline emergency response network, SCAA can reach 90% of Scotland’s population within 25 minutes including remote and rural areas that are difficult to access by road, flying expert paramedic care to the scene and providing speedy onward transfer to specialist hospitals.

Restrictions

Experience required: Experience of public speaking is helpful, but not vital as we provide support and training to develop your skills and confidence. Passionate about raising the profile of SCAA across Scotland. Friendly and engaging manner to speak with a diverse range of groups. Comfortable with IT including email, we provide training on the PowerPoint and kit used.

Training details: Welcome induction about SCAA and our history. Specialised SCAA Volunteer Speaker training. This role includes shadowing an established volunteer, a practice run and materials to ensure you are confident. Named contact with Community Fundraising Staff for support and queries. Regular updates and training.
