Description

The OPEN Project runs a peer education project, peer mentoring project and a youth cafe project and currently falls under Voluntary Action Shetland. We are going to be exploring turning OPEN into an independent, youth-led charity. To achieve this we are seeking Board Members aged 16-29 to direct and oversee our organisation going forward as an independent charity. Board members will receive training opportunities to develop their skills in governance, leadership and decision making.

Organisation aims and objectives

The OPEN Peer Education Project provides training and support for young adults aged 16-25 to enable them to become peer educators, delivering workshops on issues that they feel are important to themselves and their peers in their local communities, e.g. sexual health and relationships, harm reduction in drugs awareness, young parenting.

The Lanarkshire Rape Crisis Centre is currently recruiting women interested in developing their knowledge and skills in relation to supporting survivors of rape and other forms of sexual abuse. We are seeking volunteers who wish to develop skills and expertise as Directors, while taking the organisation forward and are especially interested in speaking to anyone with any marketing or graphic design knowledge who can help us refresh our branding. The most important attributes we seek however are enthusiasm and the desire to make a difference to the women within your local community. We particularly want to create an environment where all communities feel free to become involved in volunteer work within LRCC, to enable us to reflect the diversity that exists across Lanarkshire.

We are seeking to increase the experience and skills of our Board, particularly in relation to fundraising / HR / organisational development / quality assurance. If you have an interest or experience in any of these areas and can spare a few hours a month we'd love to hear from you. Our Board meet up for 2hrs every 6 weeks and have overall responsibility for the governance of the project.

Board Member

FRASAC are seeking Board members to help lead their fantastic organisation supporting people who have experienced rape and sexual assault. The Board currently consists of five members who have skills in several areas and collectively have many years' experience. FRASAC are currently looking to appoint new board members to grow their skillset and help develop the organisation further. Board meetings are held every six weeks and currently take place online. When circumstances allow the Board will meet in person, however online attendance at Board meetings will continue to be an option. There are additional meetings and training days throughout the year. This role can be undertaken for up to three years, thereafter another position on the Board can be held.
