ABOUT ACE
Alloa Community Enterprises (ACE) are currently looking for a Workshop Volunteer within their Remakery. The Remakery is a reuse charity hub, looking for a skilled volunteer for less than 16 hours per week. This role will be to assist in crafting, making and teaching volunteers about climate change, through crafts and recycling, whilst building soft skills and providing support to those with ASN.

THE ROLE
Duties will include welcoming people into the Remakery, assisting with enquiries, making and pricing items. For volunteers that would rather not be customer facing, there are hands on scrap sorting in the warehouse, tidying, stocking shelves, and making sure all health and safety is compliant. For the more creative volunteers, you can help make items and craft packs from scrap materials in the store to sell at events and online. ACE have a dedicated craft area for this.

Organisation aims and objectives

Our Remakery provides a safe, creative space for art and crafting inspiration – to upcycle, recycle, reuse and divert from landfill. We breathe new life into unwanted items, upcycling with trained professionals creating new work for sale, commissions and teaching others how to do so themselves. Our volunteers will have the opportunity to learn new skills, and put them into practice in many ways, including through our Volunteer Training Program. This will encorporate in house training, certified courses, and mentoring to develop a diverse range of skills, centred around Climate Change.

Volunteer Workshop Mechanic

Angus Cycle Hub encourage people to live healthier lives and reduce car journeys and CO2 emissions through cycling and recycling. We run two community based projects based in Arbroath and Dundee, Scotland. We are committed to our community and want them involved in everything we do at Cycle Hub which is why we love volunteers! This is an excellent role for anyone who wishes to be involved in a hands on role and is by far the most popular of our volunteer roles at the Cycle Hub. You will be supported by our Velotech trained mechanics and be granted an unlimited opportunity to learn about bikes or hone your already existing skills. You will be supported by our head Recycles mechanic, Jason, and an assigned mentor at our Arbroath basewhere you can work towards various individually set goals. Once you have completed our Recycles Volunteer Project you will have the opportunity to gain a SQA certified qualification/Velotech qualification. You can either do this within the Recycles Project or branch out and get involved elsewhere, for instance: shop servicing, Dr Bike events and our Maintenance Sessions.

General Workshop Volunteer

Upmo supports adults with disabilities. We run a range of workshops such as art, music, drama, gardening and much more! We hope our volunteers can share skills and support our staff and students in workshops. Supporting students with a variety of activities Supporting facilitators to plan and prepare for workshops Contribute ideas and suggestions for workshops Take the lead in providing activities for students Helping to maintain pleasant surroundings, ensuring that spaces are tidy and clean enough to ensure safety of all participants Maintain effective relationships with students, their families and other staff and volunteers Implementation and adherence to all of Upmo’s policies and procedures including those relating to equity and health and safety. Wood Workshop Volunteer

Our wood workshop volunteers get hands on cleaning up and de-nailing timber; learning how to use a variety of woodworking tools; and building upcycled furniture. Volunteers contribute to our environmental mission by reusing and recycling waste timber that would otherwise go to landfill. Based at our workshop in Granton, you will be an integral part of our friendly and supportive team of staff, volunteers and trainees.
