Volunteers can give their time to on a Friday night to work with the young people. This will allow them the opportunity to get alongside the young people, get to know them and become a positive role model.
The Ayr Ark works towards three main aims: • Engaging with young people by running events and activities which address a variety of practical needs for young people whilst working in partnership with local organisation. • Equipping young people with the knowledge and understanding needed for building and developing their own life-skills and self-confidence in a supported environment. • Empowering young people with the experience and confidence to make wise and safe lifestyle choices and to take hold of a more positive future for themselves.
No age restriction, however if a volunteer is under the age of 16 they will not be left unsupervised with young people.
Experience required: No skills or experience is necessary, however to fulfil your role to the best of your ability you must have a desire to work with young people from a variety of backgrounds. Other skills which are preferred but not essential are good communication skills, the ability to work as part of a team, the ability to plan and lead various events.
Expenses details: All volunteers should make their own way to The Ark, however if The Ark is hosting an event which is not being held within The Ark’s premises, travel will be arranged to take you from The Ark to the location of the event and back again.
Training details: Any further training that may be required will be provided free of charge by The Ark.
