Turas are an enthusiastic group of Gaelic singers, mostly learners, based in the central Borders, usually St Boswell’s or Melrose. We offer workshops in Gaelic singing and perform occasionally at ceilidhs and concerts. Lately we have been learning on Zoom. We have a local tutor and invite well-known guest tutors from outwith the area. We need a Bookkeeper and/or Treasurer to join our small hard-working committee.

Role description:

• Collect fees
• Pay tutors and guest artistes
• Banking
• Keeping the books.

Attending committee meetings (presently on Zoom) presenting regular reports at meetings and annual reports at the AGM. Attendance at singing workshops negotiable.

Dates and times - as and when required.
Minimum hours - 1-2 hours weekly, October - December, January - March. Occasionally at other times.

Organisation aims and objectives

Gaelic singing for fun. Increased awareness and appreciation of Gaelic language and culture.


Experience required: Experience of bookkeeping or willingness to learn. Training may be available. Good organisational skills. Familiarity with banking and basic computer skills.
Minimum age: 18
