The main role of volunteers will be to befriend people aged 16years and over who are presently experiencing mental health difficulties or social isolation or loneliness. The volunteers will be matched with people with similar interests so they can engage in their local community in a variety of ways from going out for a coffee and chat to perhaps shopping , cinema or sporting activities. Befriending by phone or online zoom type meetings can be arranged. Full induction, Mental Health First Aid training and ongoing contact and support will be given regularly. All out of pocket expenses will be reimbursed including travel and mileage costs.

Organisation aims and objectives

Provide support to service users who have severe and enduring mental health problems into work (paid or voluntary) or education. We also refer clients to other support services if outwith our area of expertise.











Experience required: Befriending / Mentoring Volunteers should be have an interest in helping others who are expreriencing mental health dofficulties, social isolation or loneliness and be willing to engage in a range of activities in their local community from a simple coffe and chat to the going out to the cinema or local parks or events. They require to be punctual and respectful and of a friendly manner and able to commit to a regular input to establish rapport and increase the confidence of those being befriend
Travel details: This volunteering takes place in SOUTH LANARKSHIRE across Clydesdale, East Kilbride and Hamilton

Training details: Induction and mental health first aid training will be given alongside regular supervision and on going support.
