Stock Assistant

You will be responsible for receiving deliveries, liaising with suppliers and ensuring that produce is stored correctly and in accordance with the Pantry's FIFO procedure (first in first out). Another key role is to ensure that the stock room and shop floor are kept clean, tidy and well organised. This role requires some heavy lifting and manual handling. There is scope here for the role to be more practical or more creative based on preference and skills.

Organisation aims and objectives

The Community Alliance Trust is a community-led organisation which exist to benefit the community of the Greater Craigmillar area of Edinburgh fallowing the principles of sustainable development. It does this by: Developing community assets and new social enterprise initiatives in the local community, Taking their lead from the community in planning and implementing their projects.










3 hour shift per week for minimum 3 months


Experience required: A good team worker, enthusiastic, and able to engage well with others. Reliable and punctual. Willing to learn and be flexible. Willing to engage with people in an inclusive way. In good health and physically active. Previous experience with food or within a warehouse/stockroom environment (not essential).
Travel details: The Greenhouse Pantry is at 64 Niddrie Mains Rd and there is a bus stop right outside serving buses 2, 14 and 30.

Expenses details: Volunteers will be reimbursed for travel costs as and when this occurs.
Training details: Full induction and training is provided. Ongoing training is available, including: REHIS level 2 Food Hygiene Training, allergy awareness training, manual handling training, etc.
