We are looking for people who are passionate about ending child hunger and ensuring that every child receives a daily meal in a place of education. As a Community Volunteer you can contribute as an individual or become part of one of our local groups of passionate volunteers, helping to grow our movement by motivating and inspiring people in your local community to support our work. You can raise awareness of our work within your community in a number of ways, including: •Helping us to share our story - give Mary’s Meals talks to local community organisations, schools, churches and faith groups to raise vital awareness and funds •Host fundraising events in your local area such as coffee mornings, quizzes, and bucket collections •Promote Mary’s Meals fundraising campaigns •Distribute and display promotional materials and place collection tins in your local community •Host community engagement events such as film screenings to share our message •Help us to generate corporate support in your local area •Support with local media opportunities •Come together as a group with other local volunteers to support each other with this work All of our volunteer activities are tailored to suit your different skills and time constraints.

-WHO ARE WE? Cybersafe Scotland is an Aberdeen based social enterprise working to protect children online. Our current focus is reducing online abuse and harassment. Cybersafe works with schools, including classroom-based sessions working directly with children, as well as work with school staff, parents and carers. -WHY DO WE NEED VOLUNTEERS? During the school year from August 2024-June 2025 we have a programme of work in school including lessons delivered to classes P5 - P7. All these sessions are delivered by Cybersafe Scotland staff but we are look for volunteers to support their delivery, bringing extra support for the learners, and joy and care in keeping with our mission. -MAIN TASKS: • Assist Cybersafe staff in classroom sessions: • Setting up for lessons • Distributing handouts • Helping with practical demonstrations • Encouraging pupils in small group or individual work • Tidying up after lesson • Bringing joy -TIME Lessons will take place within school hours between 0900-1500 Monday to Friday. The classroom based sessions are about 1 hour for each class including set up and tidy up time but multiple lessons will be delivered in a school in any one day. The more lessons a volunteer can commit to the better as you will learn valuable knowledge and skills through each lesson. However as a minimum volunteers must be able to offer 21 hours, split over half day periods of 3 hours. Please indicate availability when applying. -QUALIFICATIONS No formal qualifications are required, however volunteers will have to successfully apply for a PVG certificate for working with children. An interest in working with children and young people and demonstrable experience in doing so will be required. Overview of the Tech volunteer role All across the UK our 350+ volunteers support older and/or disabled people in their communities to offer one-to-one support with their technology, whether that’s a computer, laptop, smartphone or tablet. Our volunteers: • Troubleshoot technical issues • Offer impartial advice on technology • Set up new tech and install hardware and software • Show people how to use their tech at home e.g. shop online, send and receive emails and video call with family and friends • Make adaptations to support a disabled person’s specific technology needs What will I be doing? • Contacting clients to arrange a date/time to support (could include, home visits, meetings in libraries, cafes etc. supporting them remotely online or attending group sessions). • Carrying out tech support for the clients you have accepted. • Feeding back on progress via our online ticketing system. • Supporting your local Coordinator with promoting the volunteer service in the local area. • Getting together with other tech volunteers at team meetings and wider company events. • Attending training on technology, particularly adaptive technology. • Supporting other volunteers through our online chat facility What are the benefits to me? VTO provides free one to one tuition to children and young people (aged 8-18) to help tackle the attainment gap in Scotland. We work with young people from diverse backgrounds including those from low income families, care experience, EAL, or those faced with perceived barriers to learning. Our volunteers are responsible for developing a person-centred tutoring experience online. A key part of this role is relationship building, mentoring, instilling confidence, and empowering young people through education. Volunteers from a range of diverse backgrounds and experiences are welcome. What will I be doing? • Working one-to-one with a young person who requires tutoring support online. • Relationship-building and mentoring • Instilling a growth mindset towards learning • Monitoring and recording progress of learning and keeping in contact with your assigned Learning Communities Coordinator • Take part in relevant training • Tutoring in English, Maths and potentially other subjects, dependent on experience • Sourcing and creating engaging ways to support pupils’ skills and learning
