Wishaw YMCA is looking for volunteers to assist with our social media and IT. This is a fantastic opportunity to learn new skills as well as get involved and shape our local events which we believe will make a difference to lives within our local community.
We are looking for Social Media volunteers to manage our social media accounts by implementing strategies and tactics that grow our followers, engage and retain them, and help convert them into members, customers, and active fans and promoters of Wishaw YMCA. This is a great opportunity to shape the future of Wishaw YMCA through assisting the board to develop a meaningful and relevant social media strategy. Duties would also include website maintenance and using our social media profiles to reach as large an audience as possible to promote our activities. As a social media Volunteer , you will develop valuable knowledge and skills for your CV and acquire experience and understanding of how a local charity operates whilst gaining a real sense of achievement in the process. Volunteers would be expected to commit to a minimum of 3-4 hours per fortnight ideally for at least 12 months. You should enjoy working as part of a team and having fun while sharing your talents and developing new skills. Previous social media experience is essential.

Wishaw YMCA has embarked on ambitious journey called Project Revive. The goals of the project are to reopen our original premises which is a beautiful historic building at 145 Main St Wishaw which is currently closed to the public. We are working towards funding to transform that facility into a flexible community space that would cater for community groups. Our vision is to restore the building to be operated as a community social enterprise that utilises the space as a wedding venue, concert hall, cinema and conference facility which will support reinvestment in the community as Non-Profit to provide program delivery that are core to YMCA principles. This is a long term capital project where we have already taken important steps towards our goal. Our new project office will enable us to be accessible to the local community and act as a base to support community engagement and to conduct public consultation in relation to the regeneration of our original premises.
