Description

We have a child in nursery who has been diagnosed with Autism who would benefit from 1 to 1 support.

We are looking for a volunteer(s) familiar with Autism who would be willing to support the child/staff, the child currently attends nursery in the mornings. Having support from a volunteer(s) would be a huge benefit to the child and family.

-Our Setting
We are a registered charity and non-profit organisation we support families in the local community which is a regeneration area. The children in our setting are aged between 2-5 years old. The volunteer(s) would be supporting us in the mornings the hours of the session is 7.45am – 12noon. The maximum amount of children in each session is 22.

Restrictions

Experience required: Good working communication with children and staff, general understanding of nursery environment, children’s learning and behaviour.
Travel details: We are situated in the Woodside area of Aberdeen.

Brownies is aimed at girls aged 7-10 for nonstop fun, learning and adventure. We are looking for a person/people to come and help with the 20th B Brownies Unit in Broughty Ferry. As a Unit Helper, you will be hands on with the running of a unit meeting such as setting up activities, supervising girls when undertaking activities, and helping them when they have questions or need assistance completing an activity. In the past term alone, we’ve completed a First Aid course, sowed seeds, completed a Broughty Ferry walk, visited the cinema, completed many crafts, and played countless games. Community Engagement Facilitator (Angus)

Being a Community Facilitator is all about delivering a variety of lifesaving first aid skills in community engagement workshops and projects, within local communities, and primary and secondary schools. A lot of these projects involve talking about and demonstrating the basics of first aid to community groups that can include children, young people, and vulnerable adults. An example of events you could be delivering a first aid talk and demo to, are primary and secondary schools, small university groups, local community groups, charities, summer fairs, shopping centres. Some of the skills you could be teaching include how to provide CPR and apply a defib, different bandages and how to use them, and basic information on various health conditions. Not only that but all the training needed, is provided by us at no cost to you! A fantastic opportunity to help. All volunteers make a real difference and are greatly appreciated.

Homework Club Volunteer

My Support Day is a charity based in South Lanarkshire that supports families affected by substance use. The Homework Club is a new project with the purpose of supporting such children and young children achieve more and grow in confidence with one-on-one and small group learning support. The Homework Club session will be followed by a whole family activity. The volunteer role is to support the children and young people with their learning, help to set up and put away before and after the club, and utilise your own skills and interests to help plan and run the activities. The atmosphere is very relaxed and informal, but reliability and enthusiasm are key to this role. The club will run every Thursday from 4-6:30pm in the Beacons in Blantyre so we are looking for people who can commit to 1.5-2.5 hours every week or fortnight. There will be lots of opportunities to work with partner organisations and access relevant training. This would be especially suited to someone with an interest in teaching, youth work, community/social work or a career in the third sector. A full induction will be provided when you start your role, and ongoing support including one-on-one meetings will be available to you. Children's Activity Support-Group Helper-Children and Young People

At the Dundee Child and Family Support Service we are looking for volunteers to help with our school holiday activity days to provide one to one support (and general group support) in a group setting with other volunteers and staff members. The aim of the group is to support children and young people with additional support needs to engage with activities and to encourage interacting with peers and have fun in a supportive setting. The volunteers’ role is to participate in arranged activities such as swimming, arts and crafts, and games at a local base (i.e. primary school/community centre) or out and about in the local community. Other group work roles that we have available with the Dundee Service include Active Schools (through Dundee Leisure and Culture) which is a group to encourage children and young people with additional support needs in a school setting with physical education. The activities in the group are tailored to meet their individual needs while enabling the children and young people to access physical education. Volunteers support children and young people in various group settings to help them enjoy new experiences, develop new interests and build their confidence. Children, young people and volunteers have the opportunity to go out and about in the local community and have fun!
