Description

Our mission is to deliver urgent medical samples, equipment and supplies free of charge between hospitals, healthcare sites and laboratories in the North East of Scotland when Healthcare Providers’ own transport services do not operate.

We need Duty controllers working from the comfort of your own home to help us with this mission.

Organisation aims and objectives

Our mission is to deliver urgent medical samples, equipment and supplies free of charge between hospitals, healthcare sites and laboratories in the North East of Scotland when Healthcare Providers’ own transport services do not operate. NERVS is affiliated to the Nationwide Association of Blood Bikes (NABB). NABB states that they “consist of independent Blood Bike Group Charities who work with their local hospitals, Air Ambulance services, and other NHS sites transporting medication, medical equipment, X-rays, scans, samples and human donor milk”.

Flexible-there are a range of times available to volunteer and all help is greatly appreciated.

Restrictions

Experience required: No previous experience is required for this role as full training is given.
Travel details: Controllers are home based using their own PC, phone and internet connection.
Minimum age: 18

Support

Training details: Excellent support and relevant training is provided to all volunteers. A video induction to our base facility is provided and also to our vehicles, as well as a physical induction. A shadow shift where you shadow another controller is available and encouraged. We have a training coordinator who organises on going training throughout your time with NERVS.

Case Work Volunteers

The RAF Association is a member-led, welfare charity that exists to ensure that all members of the RAF community are supported, when they require it. Volunteering for the RAF Association is a great way of developing your skills and meeting new people, at the same time as supporting members of the RAF community in your local area who need your help. A Caseworker is someone who volunteers for the Royal Air Force Association gathering information, asking questions and completing necessary forms and by doing so, you will make a real difference.
