Food Pantry Back Office and Stock Support

Your role as the Food Pantry Back Office and Stock Support is to help manage the store room where the stock is stored. You will also help with basic admin tasks associated with stock deliveries, rotations, waste etc. There will be no requirement for any customer interaction with this role.
Your role will be to assist in the management of the stock distribution point, helping with deliveries, storing the provisions properly, ensuring stock is rotated, checking for waste and anything else associated with keeping control of the store room. We will give you full training on how it works, equipment used, systems to follow etc. You will always be volunteering as part of a team of volunteers with a staff team leader present.
Note: There will be an element of a physical requirement in lifting and carrying. i.e. cases of tins, boxes of products etc.
There will be an opportunity to also work with the customers in the front shop, if and when you wished to do so.
DUTIES: The role of the Food Pantry Back Office and Stock Support volunteer will be as follows:
• Assist with deliveries of stock
• Load deliveries onto shelving
• Store products according to guidance
• Restock and rotate shelves and fridges as required
• Clean and sanitise according to guidance

Our Food Pantry is the first one in South Ayrshire based in Ayr Town Centre. A Pantry is a membership scheme aimed at helping people make their money go further by reducing their food shopping bills and providing advice and support. Local Pantries mean people can bring down their food shopping bills, and access good food, whilst freeing up more money for other essentials and enabling tight budgets to stretch a little further. A Pantry offers dignity, choice, community and food quality.










Min of one morning or afternoon, one day per week, Monday-Friday. To commit to a minimum of 3.5hrs per week


Experience required: No formal qualifications required. The following personal qualities are required: • Able to work in a team • A friendly approachable nature • Honest and Trustworthy • Have a passion for improving the lives of people • Confidentiality • Well-presented appearance with good personal hygiene • A basic level of literacy
