Section Leader or Assistant Leader

As a Section Leader or Assistant Leader, you will be responsible for planning and leading a balanced programme of activities for your Section. The program will provide our young people with exciting and challenging experiences, enabling them to use those experiences in their personal and social development. You’ll not be alone in this and will have the help of the Group Scout Leader and Assistant Section Leaders as well as the wider Scout Group

Organisation aims and objectives

Scouting helps children and young adults reach their full potential through developing skills including teamwork, time management, leadership, initiative, planning, communication, self-motivation, cultural awareness and commitment. Scouting relies on our adult volunteers, who support Scouts in a wide range of roles from working directly with young people, to helping manage a Group, to being a charity Trustee.










Term time


Applicants should be over 18 and will need to complete an enhanced Disclosure Scotland check.
Experience required: While no previous experience in Scouting or working with young people is required applicants should be friendly and ambitious with a desire to learn and pass on new skills.
Travel details: Our Sections meet in Linlithgow, with some evening sessions taking place in the local area and occasional weekend trips further afield.

Taster details: Applicants interested in finding out more can attend an evening session and meet with other Leaders in the Group.
Training details: In addition to induction training, ongoing training is also available through the Scout Association’s comprehensive Adult Training Scheme.
