Description

Our Creative Space is an exciting new project based in the Wellgate Centre and is all about sharing and learning new creative skills to help improve the wellbeing of our participants

Our art and craft groups are designed to help our participants:

  • to connect with others
  • to have some meaningful structure in their week
  • to try new things
  • to express themselves through artistic media
  • to collaborate with others.
    .

Our volunteers will work with staff and participants to generate themes and ideas for the group; Ensure that everyone is included in the activity, Help to prepare the room prior to the group, Ensure that participants have the materials for their project, Assist participants to explore new ideas where appropriate, Clear up after activity

Volunteers are encouraged to bring creative skills and experience, and share these with the group.

Wellbeing Works promotes better wellbeing for those who face mental health challenges: building confidence, learning new skills, connecting with others and having a positive impact on our community. Wellbeing Works is the new brand for what was Dundee Association for Mental Health, and has been providing support and services for the people of Dundee for more than 50 years.

Restrictions

Experience required: This opportunity would suit someone with a range of creative skills that might include sewing, knitting, model making - any other experience of making and creating. This could suit someone who is retired, no longer working or just has someone with time to to spare and is looking to feel useful and share or pass on their skills.
Minimum age: 18

Support

Expenses paid: Yes
Expenses details: Wellbeing Works will repay any public transport costs or mileage rate of 45p per mile.
Taster available: Yes
Taster details: Opportuniy to come in and visit the Creative Space. meet our staff and participants and try out some practical skills.
Training details: Training will include - Mental Health Awareness, Health & Safety etc as well as regular support and supervision.
