Description

As part of the Jewish Care Scotland strategy to connect people to their community and the Jewish culture, the charity aims to deliver the Jewish Telegraph, kosher lunches and essential shopping every week to isolated community members.

We are looking for volunteers who have their own car and can help in Giffnock and the surrounding area every week, as well as those who can commit to helping on an ad hoc basis.

Application to Disclosure Scotland may be required, the cost will be covered by Jewish Care Scotland.

Organisation aims and objectives

Jewish Care Scotland provides professional social work and volunteer services for Jewish people in need throughout Scotland-supporting over 450 individuals and families. Jewish Care Scotland runs a registered Day Centre, social clubs for active older people, clubs for adults with physical illnesses and for adults with mental health problems.

Delivery Driver

The Food Train is an award-winning charity which operates throughout Scotland, supporting older people in local communities to remain living in their own home, as independently as possible. Our driver volunteers drive our small vans with another volunteer helper beside you, delivering grocery shopping to older people in the local community. Our shopping service members are so grateful for this service, which is a lifeline for many and an important source of social contact, as much as providing access to food and helping our members live longer and more independently in their own homes. This is a great way to use your spare time to help older people in your local community! The role involves: - Driving a medium sized van, following a delivery route with a volunteer helper. - Delivering food shopping to older people in the Falkirk area. - Loading and unloading small grocery boxes. - Assisting with putting away shopping in people's homes. - Completing a small amount of paperwork. - Either meeting the Food Train van at the supermarket or collecting it from the Food Train Falkirk office in the morning (we have arrangements so you can leave your car free of charge). Food Train is an award-winning charity providing services to older people who are no longer able to manage independently, through age, ill health, frailty or disability. Drivers collect shopping lists from customers, collect the shopping orders from the shop and deliver to the customers with the support of a Helper. Collecting shopping lists from customers • Collecting shopping orders from shops • Stack van to ensure shopping boxes are secure • Deliver and unpack shopping orders for customers • To record mileage • To report any matters of concern to Food Train staff • To inform Food Train Staff of any accidents, incidents or complaints • To maintain confidentiality • Representing Food Train in a professional manner to customers and the wider community

Volunteer Larder Delivery Driver

Access to good food is essential for the Larder, and we want to get more of it to our members. We have a number of businesses willing to donate stock which requires collection from sites across the North Coast. This additional stock is vital to supporting the operation of the Pantries, as well as helping to reduce food waste.· Collection of goods, observing appropriate food safety and manual handling regulations · Drop off goods at Larder, ensuring they are stored as appropriate to Health & safety/Environmental Health guidelines.
