Description

Midlothian Scouts currently do not have a District Secretary and we need one! We need your help to volunteer to become an Executive member. Do you have good administration skills? Would you prefer to support more ‘behind the scenes’? Can you help keep our records in order?

You will play a key role by leading the administrative work for Midlothian Scouts. No previous secretarial experience is needed, we just need someone who is good at admin and keeping records. This is an exciting central which could take about 2 hours or so per month only!

The Secretary will support the Chair of the Executive Committee to ensure the smooth functioning and sound administration of the Scout Group for instance.

  • Provide administrative support to the running of the Executive Committee.
  • Work with the Chair of the Executive Committee to set meeting agendas and arrange meeting logistics for the Executive Committee.
  • Communicating with the Executive Committee and relevant Scout Council.
  • Preparing the appropriate administration for the Annual General Meeting, including collating the Annual.
  • Report and Accounts for the Annual General Meeting.
    And more

Though ‘Executive’ sounds a bit formal, it is not like that at all! We are a relaxed group of like-minded individuals!

This role is ideal for those who do not necessarily wish to work directly with young people but would like to help to support and develop Scouting a couple of hours or so a month.

Organisation aims and objectives

We are South East Scotland Scouts. Scouting is for young people aged 6-25 and will help build confidence and self-esteem, learning important life skills and leadership skills, team building, outdoor adventure, education, and importantly have lots of fun!
