KASP has a befriending service and are looking for people age 16+ to provide this to vulnerable adults in Fife.
Befrienders will be fully trained and matched to both males and females who access KASP services who have requested a befriender. Most Befriendee’s will have already accessed KASP services and will have received counselling and support from trained and experienced workers.
Befrienders will meet regularly with their matched person and offer support, social activities or just share a cuppa and talk.
Full support and training will be offered throughout their time at KASP. They also take into consideration befriender’s skills, experience and knowledge which can offer a positive befriending experience. Befriending can offer a supportive, trusting relationship and can contribute to a person’s wellbeing.
For the befriender it can help you develop skills and knowledge and may help you get back into paid work through your own skill development.
Provides specialist counselling and support to male and female adult survivors of childhood sexual abuse across Fife. Provides support to those who are supporting survivors of abuse. Provides training and consultancy to frontline staff in working sensitively with disclosures of abuse.

Experience required: Regardless your background or circumstances you can befriend if you can show empathy, be non-judgemental, respectful of others, can listen, can give some of your time to spend with another, supply 2 references and can pass the criminal record checks
Travel details: Befrienders will meet clients in the community and the service will be offered Fife wide. Befrienders must live in Fife

Expenses details: Volunteers will be reimbursed travelling costs on receipt of bus/train tickets. Mileage paid at 34p/mile
Training details: Initial 2 day Induction training. Ongoing access to relevant training including Child Sexual Abuse awareness. 6 weekly supervision. Policies and procedures in place for safeguarding. Access to Mandatory Trauma Skilled Practice Training will be supported
