Volunteers will help in the general maintenance of fields, fencing painting, grass cutting and gardening with work takes place on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Friday mornings. Knowledge and experience of DIY is an advantage but not essential as volunteers can expect training will be given for specific tasks to be carried out. Minimum age is 16, (and no max upper limit) so long as they are fit for the outdoor tasks and weather.

Note that no out of pocket expenses will be paid. Own transport is essential. Public transport limited. No travel expenses paid.

Organisation aims and objectives

We provide Therapy Riding for people with learning difficulties and physical disabilities. Volunteers can be involved in preparing the horses for lessons, helping to prepare the rider for lessons, and being involved in the session through leading the horse, or helping to support the rider.

Volunteers offer their time on days convenient to them.

Restrictions

Volunteers must be willing to join the Protection Of Vulnerable adults and Children Scheme. This opportunity is not suitable for those with allergies or breathing problems. Requires a reasonable level of general fitness to walk with the horse.
Experience required: No experience required, though some DIY horse experience welcome.
Travel details: Own transport is essential as public transport is limited in the area. Travel expenses are not paid.
