The recent lockdown and ongoing COVID restrictions have been tough for members of Dates-n-Mates, a project that helps people with learning disabilities to access safe and appropriate social events. People with learning disabilities can be particularly at risk of feeling lonely and becoming socially isolated and recent events and restrictions on social activities and many of our members have felt increasingly anxious about keeping in touch with their friends.
It is not possible in the current climate for dates-n-mates to have large groups of people going out to a pub, nightclub or other social setting so we are making use of digital platforms to allow our members to keep in touch safely. As an Online Event Volunteer, you will help host online events on Zoom and private Facebook Groups. It’s all about helping members to have a safe, enjoyable and friendly time online– and that means it’s a fun, relaxed and
sociable role. Ideally you would generally host the same events so that our members get to know you, but that will depend on when and how often you are available.
C-Change is committed to supporting real positive change in the lives of individuals and families with support needs regardless of age and personal circumstances. The organisations believes in the strength of community. The organisation also believes that we all need support at different times in our lives and with the right kind of support all of us can flourish and be full and active citizens.
