The Treasurer will guide us on financial concerns, oversee the financial work of our charity and maintain close links with our subsidiary Feat Trading CIC, helping maximise income streams back to the core business.
The main tasks are:
Maintaining an overview of the Charity's affairs, ensuring its financial viability and that proper financial records and procedures are maintained.
The Treasurer will advise on the financial implications of the Charity's strategic plans, including having input to the subsidiary company FEAT Trading CIC strategic plan. Ideally, the Charity Treasurer would also hold the same role with our CIC.
Fife Employment Access Trust (FEAT) is a mental health charity based in Leven, though providing services Fife-wide. Our mission is to enable and support individuals to reach their full positive mental well-being in a culture where there is no stigma. FEAT provides programmes to support people with mental health issues self-manage their conditions and develop employability skills, help them access employment or other activities such as further education/volunteering. The people we work with often struggle to engage and are sometimes far removed from meaningful occupation. We build resilience, foster hope and encourage self-belief by connecting with them, exploring values, improving their self-awareness and teaching coping strategies. We support around 500 people per year and in 2019 won the Centre for Social Justice Award in the Work Category.
FEAT are also working on long-term plans to renovate the B-listed former flax mill in Silverburn Park, Leven, to become a community hub, visitor centre with hostel, cafe/restaurant and training space, building on the developments of introducing a small takeaway cafe to the Park and camping/glamping site. We are intending a Stage 2 bid to the National Lottery Heritage Fund in late 2021 to hopefully secure the balance of funding required for this major capital project and in 2021 we will be opting to tax, therefore experience of VAT returns in the Treasurer role would be advantageous.
