Royal Voluntary Service Volunteer -18

  • VO85285

To provide practical and emotional support to people in your local community to promote recovery/reablement following a hospital admission, significant medical intervention and/or a significant change in their circumstances due to health reasons.

Clients can be recovering from an illness or operation, be living with a life-limiting condition and/or be struggling with emotional well-being to due isolation.

As such, this support is very individualised and looks different for every client but is likely to include things like meeting for walks, having a cuppa and a chat at home or in a social setting (restrictions permitting), carrying out shopping/ medication collection etc., encouraging exercise/healthy eating and helping to source and participate in local activities.

Volunteers are matched with clients based on locality, interests and capacity and we always work flexibly around volunteer commitments. Volunteers can offer as little as an hour a fortnight up to several hours every week, all we ask is for a commitment, where possible, to a set day/time to allow for some consistency for our clients.

So if you are a friendly, compassionate and enthusiastic person who is looking to help a vulnerable person in your local area, consider becoming an RVS volunteer!
