Become a Listening Ear volunteer with Grampian Opportunities

Grampian Opportunities is looking for volunteers for its Listening Ear project which aims to maintain and improve participant wellbeing through regular social contact with a matched listening ear volunteer.

Organisation aims and objectives

Grampian Opportunities supports disabled people and people with mental health issues access the information and support that people need to take up and progress in further education, volunteering opportunities and employment. We will support individuals who have a personal goal that will further their employment prospects and groups or organisations that have both the idea and commitment to develop a project or enterprise which will promote employability or open up employment and volunteering opportunities.










Flexible times available to volunteer. All help greatly appreciated.


Experience required: A listening ear volunteer will be a good active listener, open minded, non judgemental, interested in others, reliable, flexible, easy going, committed and enthusiastic. Experience of, or interest in supporting people to maintain their wellbeing will be useful. Access to a phone line (mobile or landline) for the calls is essential as is access to internet for online inductions, support and training.
Travel details: Opportunity will happen via telephone from volunteers own home. Any inductions and training will be done virtually via Zoom.

Expenses paid: Yes
Expenses details: We can pay any agreed out of pocket expenses as needed if necessary to carry out the role and any induction or training. Expenses are paid in arrears on a monthly basis.
Training details: Excellent support is provided to all volunteers. General induction to the organisation. Induction to the role along with awareness raising sessions. Regular support available through peer support sessions and 1-1 support with co-ordinator. As a volunteer we can help you access additional training as needed.
