Description

Borders Care Voice, a charity based in Galashiels, is looking for a new Treasurer to join our Board of Trustees to help guide and advise us on financial matters.

We would be keen to hear from someone who would like to become part of our dedicated and passionate team of Trustees and staff. You should have a finance/accounting experience and knowledge of financial systems and reporting.

Main responsibilities:
Overseeing, approving and presenting budgets, accounts, financial statements and financial reports to the Board of Trustees
Ensuring that the financial resources of the organisation meet its present and future needs
Be involved in developing and implementing financial, reserves and investment policies

We work with people and providers to promote equality and change in health and social care. We do this by: • bringing people and providers in health and social care together, as members - to identify common issues and form collective voices and actions • supporting them to speak with that voice, or representing them where required • keeping them informed and up to date • supporting their learning and development through training • identifying gaps and developing new ideas in health and social care to address them • supporting co-production at all stages in the design and delivery of health and social care in the Borders.

Times at the office can be arranged to suit within working hours 9-5 Monday – Friday. Board meetings 4 times per year during working hours. We are currently working remotely, so meetings take place on Teams or Zoom. Minimum commitment of 1 year.

Restrictions

Experience required: • financial and accounting experience; business planning skills • some experience of organisation finance and fundraising, especially within a charity setting • the skills to analyse proposals and examine their financial consequences • Experience with Quickbooks or other bookkeeping packages helpful.
Travel details: We are based in Galashiels, and the Treasurer would normally be required to attend the office on an occasional basis, (more frequent to begin) and AGM. The Board of Trustees meets four times a year (remotely just now) and holds the annual general meeting between September and December.
