First Home Care is a health and social care company with services located throughout Scotland. We offer Care at Home to support people within our care to live their lives as full as possible. We are also a part of the Real Life Options family as they have other types of services which include supported living accommodation, day centres and care homes for individuals with disabilities
Loneliness at this time is heightened and the current social distancing measures are particularly difficult for some people. With the help of a volunteer to support our business objectives it will ensure that service users have that extra bit of communication with our company. We hope to get the volunteer involved within our social media and recruitment campaign to gain some new ideas about how we can improve our social media presence. In terms of the recruitment aspect we would love volunteers to be able to support in organising job packs and other admin tasks that may come up if the volunteer is happy to assist with them.
The best gift you can give someone is your time.
These will include; providing admins related tasks, working closely with the service manager, providing social media support, providing daily tasks such as preparing job packs and phoning service users/arranging appointments. To help organise events/trips for staff and service users to ensure that the First Home Care are going out their way for their staff and service users.
Required skills, qualities and experience.
Be able to make time, once or twice a week, to support the business objectives alongside the service manager for up to a period of three months. Must be a Good listener and empathetic ,Honest and reliable ,Friendly and calm. It is a benefit to enjoy making phone calls and be confident speaking to new people as we have a lot of people we speak to on a daily basis within the company such as service users/ staff. Can maintain confidentiality. Good IT skills and admin skills would be beneficial. A knowledge of social media (However not essential). Finally, a happy and positive approach to learning as any volunteer that comes on board will have to learn how our company operates.
Where and when will volunteering take place
This can be agreed with the service manager in terms of times and days. We aim to be as flexible as possible.
For continuity and routine we look for at least 2 hours per week for the benefit of the services and the volunteer the opportunity to build and develop relationships within the company.

Expenses details: All agreed out of pocket expenses will be reimbursed which includes travel, phone call expenses etc.
Training details: We will provide classroom training and online training free of cost. Training will include including Health & Safety, Safeguarding, Food Hygiene, Equality & Diversity, Fire Safety, GDPR (Confidentiality), Infection Control,First Aid and Moving & Handling.
