As Personal Assistant Volunteer, you will shadow an experienced Personal Assistant assisting people with various aspects of their life which can include moving and handling, personal care or positive behavioural support whilst also expanding their social networks and connections.
ENABLE Scotland creates a bespoke team around every individual we support, so you will be volunteering with a bespoke team of Personal Assistants and work alongside them to ensure the safety, wellbeing and aspirations of the people we support are met.

Organisation aims and objectives

ENABLE provides support to people over 18 years of age with Learning Disabilities in Orkney. We support people to live independently in their own homes and we aim to help people to achieve the life they wish to live. ENABLE delivers personalised support to the people who use our services and we aim for all our services users to be fully involved in planning the kind of support they wish to receive.


Experience required: commitment, dedication, and desire
Minimum age: 18


Training details: ENABLE Scotland believe in developing all our staff and volunteers so we will provide a learning programme at the beginning of your journey. This can include training on: • Person Centred approaches, planning and thinking • Moving and Handling • Adult support and protection • First Aid
