Description

Most of our volunteer fosterers care for one or two cats at a time, which makes a huge difference and gives these cats a second chance at a happy life. They provide vital hands on care and accommodation to stray, abandoned or injured cats and are part of a dedicated team of volunteers committed to finding new homes for cats in need. As a cat fosterer you can expect to be:-
● Meeting the needs of the cats in your care
● Maintaining minimum veterinary and cat care standards
● Cleaning and looking after the cats environment and equipment
● Feeding, grooming and administering medication (such as flea and worm treatments)
● Spending time enriching the cats experience in care including; play, exercise and stroking

Cats Protections vision is a world where all cats are treated with kindness and understanding of its needs. Our objectives are to help cats by 1.Homing: finding good homes for cats in need 2.Neutering: supporting and encouraging the neutering of cats 3. Education: improving people’s understanding of cats in their care.

Frequency and commitment details

Our volunteer fosterers usually spend 3-5 hours per day in this role but this could vary depending on the number of cats in their care. Commitment is long term and ongoing.

Restrictions

Our volunteer fosterers would need to have either a spare room in their own home or space in their garden for a purpose-built pen.
Experience required: We are looking for people with:- ● Basic knowledge of cats and cat care ● An appreciation of cat and hygiene standards ● Good interpersonal skills ● Patience, perseverance and empathy ● Willingness to be part of a team
Minimum age: 18

Support

Expenses details: All costs incurred from keeping the cats in care are met by the charity. Any reasonable travel expenses (i.e. trips to the vets) are also paid for.
