Description

Our Board meets six times a year and each session equates to two hours preparation and a two-hour meeting.

There are opportunities for Board members to attend training and to become more involved with the work of the Trust.

You will complement the range of skills and experience of our existing Board members. The most important quality that we are looking for is a genuine interest in supporting children and young people.

You will have professional or personal knowledge of the issues that face looked after children and young people. We are particularly keen to receive applications from people who are care experienced or people who have one or more of the following skills:

• Human Resources
• Information Technology
• Legal (charity, company, H&S)
• Social Care sector experience
• Education experience
• Communications/ Media/PR / Digital / Marketing
• Volunteer support.

Organisation aims and objectives

The charity works with disadvantaged young people to provide care and address the often complex physical, emotional or social needs of children who are not living within their own families. We work in partnership with various local authorities and other agencies to provide a residential and foster care service to meet the needs of our individual service users.

Every two months you will prepare for (2 hours) and attend (another 2 hours) our Board Meeting. Sub-committee work may incur extra hours but is optional and you are encouraged to occasionally attend community events, such as Christmas parties and foster carer meetings.

Restrictions

Experience required: You will have professional or personal knowledge of the issues that face looked after children and young people.
Travel details: We are based in Dundee’s Technology Park where there is a regular bus service and ample parking. Receipted out of pocket expenses such as bus fares will be reimbursed.
