Description

Ward Helpers play a vital role in the smooth running of busy wards and support patients to have positive experiences of hospital life.
The Ward Helpers provide assistance at mealtimes and with other routines ward activities while focussing on supporting patients to maintain and improve their health. Ward Helpers will support patients to engage in activities one to one or in small groups enabling them to maintain physical and mental activity while in hospital.

Restrictions

Maximum age 70 temporarily due to Covid-19 risks
Experience required: · Friendly and approachable · Strong verbal communication skills · Non-judgemental and sensitive approach · Positive attitude · Able to follow instructions
Travel details: The number 29 bus will take you to the community hospital and it is short walk from Eskbank train station and there is parking if you wish to travel by car
Minimum age: 16

Expenses paid: Yes
Training details: A three session virtual induction is offered prior to the start of placement. An onsite induction is provided at the start of the placement. Optional monthly training sessions are offered on a variety of themes and both informal and formal support is provided by a named person. Volunteers also receive regular newsletters.
