'Supporting Your Recovery' Volunteer

Providing practical and emotional support to help clients recovering from ill health or facing isolation gain independence and re-engage in their community.

Provide tailored support and encouragement to individual clients to support recovery, reduce isolation, improve health and wellbeing and reduce likelihood of hospital admission.

This varies by individual and can include:

  • phone-calls, visits, accompanied walks/visits/shopping including driving or public transport
  • mobility practice, seated exercise, practicing domestic tasks in any hospital reablement plan
  • encourage healthy eating and hydration
  • offer practical support e.g. prescription collection, dog walking, household paperwork, IT support
  • guide clients to other sources of support and activities

At Royal Voluntary Service, we’re here to help you find the voluntary role that’s right for you. We are a national charity built on local volunteering giving support to the people that need it in our hospitals and communities. Whether you have a specific voluntary role in mind, you want to create your own activity or group or you’ve never even considered volunteering before, we can help.










Roughly 2 hours per week, timing is flexible and to be discussed regarding the schedule of volunteers and clients. Volunteers are paired up with clients for a 12-week period.


Volunteers must have access to email so that they can complete the processes needed, including application and PVG check, in a safe way.

Travel details: Across Forth Valley area. Travel expenses will be reimbursed.

Expenses paid: Yes
Expenses details: 45p per mile for usage by car/public transport fares reimbursed. Receipts and claim form to be completed weekly.
Training details: Volunteers complete online training before starting. They will have an induction and ongoing support from their Service Coordinator as well as access to ongoing training.
