Description

Provide maintenance and DIY support in and around the Action in Mind office building. This is an exciting opportunity to put your skills to good use and help contribute to the success of a local mental health charity.

This role will require the volunteer to carry out various maintenance tasks and odd jobs in and around the Action in Mind building. These tasks may include:

fixing equipment and fences
painting
basic DIY, electrical and plumbing tasks
general site upkeep

This opportunity is FLEXIBLE and, the maintenance/handyperson will be expected to assist with maintenance tasks as and when required.

Organisation aims and objectives

Action in Mind is a community mental health charity supporting people experiencing low to moderate symptoms of stress, anxiety and depression and people living with different chronic mental health conditions such as bipolar, borderline personality or obsessive compulsive disorders. We work across the Forth Valley, central Scotland, which includes urban areas around the cities and towns of Stirling, Falkirk and Alloa. We help people towards better mental health and well-being, and to lead lives without fear of mental health stigma and discrimination.

Roughly 3 hours per fortnight, flexible and can be arranged with volunteer. Estimated 12 months to dedicate to the role.

Restrictions

Experience required: The volunteer will be expected to be resourceful and self-motivated, have the ability to problem-solve and, adhere to health and safety guidelines. Heavy lifting may be required and, a good knowledge of DIY is essential.
Travel details: We accept volunteer applications from across Forth Valley but the maintenance responsibilities take place exclusively at our Stirling-based office building.

Expenses paid: Yes
Expenses details: 30p per mile within Stirling Council for use of own car or provision of public transport tickets. Payment by bacs transfer.
Training details: Mandatory volunteer training will be provided prior to commencement.
