There are an estimated 300 million children in the world for whom walking with shoes is a rarity. This makes them extremely vulnerable to infection by parasites, such as hookworm; while injuries to the feet and ankles can lead to ulcers and other conditions which are almost always left untreated. Without shoes, many children are not permitted to attend school. www.salsshoes.com

Recycle shoes that your children have outgrown Children tend to outgrow their shoes before they outwear them. Feet in shoes are protected feet. Feet protected from injury and infection; and in areas of low sanitation the spread of infection. Shoes are relatively difficult to recycle because of all the different components they are made up. SO WE FIND THEM NEW FEET In 2013, unable to find a charity that could tell me where exactly our son Sal’s outgrown shoes would find their new feet if we donated them, I founded Sal’s Shoes. In our first year we collected just under 5,000 pairs of shoes. 7 years on, we have now found new feet for over 2,000,000 pairs of Sal’s Shoes in 49 countries around the world, including increasingly here in the UK. Shoes in reasonable condition can be donated to this charity.
