Description

Volunteer Catering Assistant in church cafe.
Providing friendly welcome to customers, showing to tables, serving at tables, taking orders, taking payment (after training).
Serving hot drinks and soup, using coffee machine, and providing take-away drinks and soup.
Assisting in kitchen (optional) with baking, preparing soups and sandwiches etc.
Cleaning at end of day including kitchen, tables, coffee machine, servery.

Restrictions

Experience required: Essential - team worker, ready to take orders, able to be flexible in tasks and work under pressure, interest in people, aware of need to follow strict hygiene rules, able to relate to people with differing abilities. Desirable - knowledge of food hygiene (training provided), interest in food.
Travel details: Community Cafe in basement of church in George St (next to George Hotel). Bus fares paid if required. Free tea/coffee, reduced lunch (or free if on benefits). Access by all city centre buses (11,23,27, tram).
Minimum age: 16

Expenses details: Paid to those on benefits or otherwise in need, by Head of Cafe Operations weekly
Training details: Induction training "on the job" follwing informal chat. Food hygiene training will be offered when courses avaiable and to suit volunteer - within 3 mths.
