Volunteer catering assistant in community café.
Providing welcome to customers, serving at tables and behind counter, taking orders and taking payment. Serving hot and cold drinks, using coffee machine, assisting in kitchen and cleaning at the end of the day. Training is available for tasks including using the till and helping in the kitchen with food preparation.

Hours: flexible but normally 1 day (4hrs.+) per week- more if desired. Café hours 10.30 - 2pm weekdays.
Experience required: Essential - team worker, able to be flexible in tasks and work under pressure, interest in people, able to follow strict hygiene rules and relate to people with differing abilities.
Desirable - interest in food.
Travel details: Community Café in basement of church in George St (next to George Hotel). Bus fares paid if required. Free tea/coffee, reduced lunch (or free if on benefits). Access by all city centre buses (11,23,27, tram).

Expenses details: Paid to those on benefits or otherwise in need, by Head of Café Operations weekly.
Training details: Induction training "on the job" following informal chat with Head of Café Operations. Food hygiene training will be offered when courses available. Training in further skills (money handling, cooking) as volunteer shows interest and ability.
