As a volunteer, you will have the opportunity to support our different walking projects. You’ll learn about the impact of walking and nature connectedness for health and well-being and gain skills in leadership and communication.
To assist in the day to day running of walking activities including a breakfast club & walking bus for primary school kids, health walks, buggy walks, and strength & balance initiatives.
The volunteer should be willing to participate in all aspects of the activity which include:
• Helping lead walks at local parks and greenspace.
• Helping set-up and run the breakfast club (including making breakfasts and doing fun activities)
• Walking kids to school on time for 8.50am.
• Observing participants for safety.
• Registering new walkers on the Paths for All database
• Making new walkers feel welcome.
• Enjoy a cup of tea and meet new people!
To improve the health and wellbeing of the population of Greater Shotts area.Involve local people in defining, supporting, managing + using existing services to improve their health. Establish a food co-op, breakfast clubs, Health and leisure initiatves. Creation of Healthy Living Centre and eight information points - centre to include - Food co-op, cyber/healthy eating cafe, smoking cessation, drugs + alcohol counselling, Family Planning

A re-conditioned bike & helmet can be provided for volunteers to access opportunity and encourage active travel.

Training details: Support/instruction in the role provided as well as the opportunity to obtain walking specific qualifications including walk leader training (including dementia friendly specific), and strength & balance exercise training.
