  • Home-based volunteering, Board/trustee role


The tasks of a Treasurer include but are not restricted to the following:

  • Keeping up to date and accurate records of income and expenditure.
  • Ensuring regular written reports are submitted to the Trustees.
  • Ensuring that annual returns are completed and checked by the appropriate person.
  • Submitting returns and or any other forms to the relevant charity regulator.
  • To attend a 6 weekly UMT meeting on a weekday evening (this is the only specific time commitment we ask as most of the Treasurer’s work can be done on a casual basis from home).
  • Identify funding streams.
  • Make funding applications to different open funding sources.

Organisation aims and objectives

At Ayr we aim to give young people an experience that will help them grow into the person they want to be in a safe and friendly environment. Through various activities and adventures, we learn teamwork, respect, loyalty, self-confidence, commitment, self-discipline, honesty and how to be the best version of ourselves. We offer a range of different activities from sailing, windsurfing and powerboating - to rock climbing, camping, and music - plus, so much more! At Ayr you are also able to gain different qualifications that you can take with you once you leave Sea Cadets!


Experience required: About you: Previous experience as a Treasurer or in a similar role is desirable, although having the right attitude and a passion for improving the lives of young people are the most important things! If you think the person specification below sounds like you, then please get in touch: You will have some prior treasurer experience (desirable)

Training details: You can expect us to: - Support you to understand your role, how to do it and the difference you make to the SCC - Understand the skills and experience you have, as well as your aspirations for volunteering - Provide you with an induction, ongoing support and training to undertake your volunteer role - Provide regular updates about any developments in the charity that are relevant to you - Value your contributions and providing you with potential opportunities to progress
