Description

Through the support of the Big Lottery Fund's Community Spaces Programme, Hillhead Housing Association reclaimed 2 disused plots of ground and developed them into community growing and recreational spaces within the neighbourhood of Hillhead, Kirkintilloch. The Project provides 11 raised beds, a large polytunnel and an orchard as well as seating areas and a range of high nectar trees and climbing plants to attract native life and improve biodiversity. The project is intended to benefit the whole community by improving the environment of Hillhead and by promoting increased community involvement and providing activities which will reduce isolation. They are looking for volunteers to grow their own fruit and vegetables and help maintain the garden.
