New Connections Volunteer

New Connections is a post covid community recovery centre project that will be running for a minimum of 12 months.
The aims of the project are to create a friendly, safe and welcoming space where existing and new groups can meet and be formed, new community driven activities can take place and all individuals can participate.
Hosting the premises Lochaber Hope require volunteers to

  • Open up the premises and ensure safe and welcoming environment for all groups and individuals.
  • Create, communicate and promote a timetable of community activities.
  • Listen to community members for opportunities to create new support networks.
  • Signpost visitor enquiries to relevant support group or organization to meet their needs.

Organisation aims and objectives

To support partnership in community rehabilitation and create a community led skills environment. To develop positive motivation and improve self esteem. To provide a safe, secure learning environment. To develop outreach potential in Lochaber. To encourage recycling in Lochaber.


Experience required: We ask that volunteers are friendly, positive, non-judgmental and encouraging. That they are happy to connect and support all members of the public. All personal skills and experience levels are welcomed as we are recruiting a team of volunteers. We ask that you bring your personal strengths and are happy to develop new skills as required to run the centre. Disclosure checks will be completed for all volunteers.


Training details: Volunteers will all be given Lochaber Hope’s Induction training, mentor and listening skills training, plus additional premises training and ongoing support.
